We all know that if you want less of something, tax it. The Colorado DOT is looking to have less traffic ,so they have started testing variable tolls – when congestion is bad, it costs more to use the road. Problem solved. But that creates new problems for JIT and other time-sensitive deliveries. Will carriers start to provide rates based on the appointment time? So now the problem has transferred to the shippers and carriers. I suspect carriers will set the toll charge to the maximum and pass it on to the shipper. Has anybody got a good solution?
