Two things have made me re-think labor problems:

  1. The increasing problem with Opioids
  2. The fracking business is taking off again
  1. A quick look at the above map tells you the problem.  How can quality work be performed in light of this problem?
  2. Fracking is taking off again – and this time, it demands even more transportation resources.  Consider a well that was fracked recently with 50.2 MM lbs of sand…. that is about 1000 truckloads or 250 rail cars (two trains) folks.  There was a time when 5 MM lbs of sand was considered a lot.  Think of the stress on the infrastructure and driver-labor force.
