DB Schenker took a $25 Million stake in the online freight booking platform uShip, which has been around for more than 10 yrs.  The real question is which platform will become dominant – there are quite a few, all fighting for the same shippers and carriers.  Here are some of the deals that have taken place recently:
  • United Parcel Service Inc. bought Coyote Logistics for $1.8 billion in 2015 and participated in a $30 million funding round with Optoro Inc., a software firm specializing in retail returns, in December
  • C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc., the largest trucking freight broker by revenue, bought Freightquote Inc. for $365 million in 2015
Many oil companies are faced with the question – pump or leave it in the ground? After spending $20 Billion on its oil sand deposits, Exxon has decided to do the latter.
