Benchmark “Brent” crude will include a U.S. component. Recall the Brent field has mostly dried up, so Brent is really a combination of multiple other crudes. Now Brent will include a U.S. component. Why? Because the U.S. is a large oil exporter (Number 3 after Saudi Arabia and Russia).
