Here is another instance of infrastructure not keeping up with technology.  The Port of Houston is joined to the ocean by the 50-mile-long Houston Ship Channel.  This artery is not wide enough to allow two-way traffic when 1100 feet long large container ships come to port.  Energy companies that export 50% of the total crude oil and the likes of excess gasoline or petrochemicals from Houston are crying foul.
